- What is MALAI?
- MALAI (Metabolic Adaptive Lifestyle And Intelligence) is the AI nutrition care companion built specifically for people taking GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, or Zepbound. It generates phase-aware meal plans, manages side effects, protects lean muscle, and connects you with insurance-covered RD coaching.

- Which GLP-1 medications does MALAI support?
- MALAI supports all major GLP-1 receptor agonists including semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus), tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound), liraglutide (Saxenda, Victoza), and dulaglutide (Trulicity). The app adapts your nutrition plan to your specific medication, dose, and titration phase.

- Why is muscle preservation so important on GLP-1s?
- Because it is the one part of the outcome you control. Neeland's 2024 review in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism found lean tissue made up as little as 15% of total weight lost in some trials and as much as 60% in others — a four-fold spread on the same class of drug. Protein intake and resistance training are among the strongest predictors of which end you land on. MALAI exists to keep you at the low end.

- Is MALAI a medical device or replacement for my doctor?
- No. MALAI is a wellness and nutrition tool — not a medical device, prescription, or replacement for clinical care. We work alongside your prescribing physician, your registered dietitian, and any other clinicians on your team. Always consult your doctor before making changes to your treatment plan.
- How much does MALAI cost?
- Pricing isn't public yet. Registered Dietitian (RD) coaching is covered at $0 copay through Medical Nutrition Therapy by most major insurance plans — we check your eligibility and handle the billing. The GLP-1 Protein Calculator, with a built-in muscle-loss risk score, is live now and free; the Side-Effect Pattern Finder is next.
- Is MALAI live now?
- Yes. MALAI's free tools are live now at itsmalai.com, and the full app is open for signup at app.itsmalai.com — no waitlist. Create an account to start with phase-aware meal plans and side-effect management right away.
- Will MALAI help me with side effects like nausea?
- Yes. Side-effect intelligence is core to MALAI. You log symptoms in seconds; we correlate nausea, fatigue, and GI issues with your meal timing, food types, and dose schedule, then surface evidence-based protocols to manage each symptom — from anti-nausea meal sequencing to hydration and fiber strategies.
